Best of Bauma – Powered access equipment
Elevating solutions on show
The world of powered access at Bauma this year will be headlined by manufacturers presenting more digital solutions and by a new participant in the event – China’s Sinoboom. In the company’s first visit to Bauma as an exhibitor, the Chinese manufacturer of aerial work platforms will focus on electric-powered access solutions.
Sinoboom will be bringing six electric-powered machines from its extensive AWP range. The products on show will be five scissor lifts and one articulating boom lift. The scissor lift range starts from a working height of 5.8m and goes up to 13.8m with load capacities ranging from 240-320kg, while the articulating boom can reach a maximum working height of 17.7m and carry a load of 230kg.
“At Bauma, Sinoboom looks forward to bringing visitors up to date with global expansion plans. Partnerships in Western Europe are in development, while existing relationships continue to be nurtured. There is exploration of further opportunities in Eastern Europe; Latin America; the Middle East; Southeast, South, Central and East Asia; and Australasia and Oceania,” said the Changsha-based company.
Characteristic attributes of the Sinoboom scissor lift range are a small turning circle, ease of operation, robust build for a high-strength machine and excellent stability. The electric range in particular is popular in the markets outside China that the company supplies. Sinoboom also manufactures several diesel-powered lifts, widely used in construction and other heavy industries.
Sinoboom says notable features of its articulating boom lift range are a competitive price point and excellent stability compared to many models available from major global AWP manufacturers, and this is a feature the company seeks to highlight with its participation at Bauma.
Another leading global powered access brand, Canada’s Skyjack, says it is excited to take the show indoors this year at Bauma. The global biggie is bringing an assortment of fleet favourites and Canadian flair to this year’s show. The products on Skyjack’s stand will consist of DC scissors, an electric rough terrain scissor lift, articulating booms and the first models in the next generation of DC and rough terrain scissor lifts.
“With updates about ELEVATE, Skyjack’s off-highway telematics solution, and Stage V emissions standards… there’s a lot of excitement at Skyjack’s booth #515 in the indoors Hall C4,” says the company.
Over at Genie, a line-up of 17 products will be exhibited at booth FM711. The Terex AWP arm will show off its expanding new generation of green work platforms, its full range of Genie Xtra Capacity (XC) telescopic boom lifts, new Genie Lift Connect Telematics solutions and the brand’s latest productivity accessories.
Bauma 2019 will mark the premiere of a new Genie fuel-electric (FE) hybrid boom lift, a 2-In-1 machine that combines the 4WD all-terrain abilities of traditional diesel-powered units, the emissions-free benefits of 100% electric solutions and the ability to regenerate power to maintain battery charge. The new model will also boast intelligent technology that saves energy and significantly prolongs battery life while reducing operating and maintenance costs, for high rental returns of invested capital (rROIC).
Among the technologies to be presented is the new Genie Lift Connect, a telematics offering focused on actionable information, flexibility and transparency in managing aerial equip-ment fleets of all sizes.
