Kuwait Government appoints IIAC to operate and manage Terminal 4
New terminal will be specified for Kuwait Airways and will open within 90 days
The Kuwait government has awarded Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) an operation and management contract, according to Kuwait state news agency KUNA. As per the terms of the contract, the IIAC will be responsible for operating, managing, maintaining and further developing Terminal 4 at the Kuwait International Airport.
Earlier this year, a tender was issued for T4 and after completing all the necessary requirements, the IIAC was awarded the contract said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation – Kuwait.
Besides providing training to Kuwaiti youth on airport management, the Korean group will also transfer relevant knowledge and expertise. T4 is being specified for national carrier Kuwait Airways and is slated to begin operations within the next three months.
Terminal 4 is said to feature 14 gates and aims to reduce the traffic on the existing terminal. It has been designed to service 4.5m passengers per year.
The IICA deal is said to be part of the Kuwait government’s desire to seek partnerships with international companies specialised in civil aviation.
