RTA compensates 17 for Metro disturbance
Compensation also includes the construction of sound barriers to shield residents from noises
As many as 17 families are to be compensated by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for damages resulting from the vibrations and disturbance by the Dubai Metro station in Al Rashidiya area.
The move comes after the RTA conducted a study which recommended that residents living near the Al Rashidiya Metro station are to receive monetary compensation, according to Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the RTA.
“The initial results concluded by the work team entrusted with carrying out site studying and surveying include the disbursement of funds for the maintenance and refurbishment of 17 impacted houses,”said Al Tayer.
The compensation also includes constructing sound barriers to shield the noise from the affected houses provided that such barriers are high enough to ensure the privacy of residents, he added.
The study also recommended building underground concrete barriers at a suitable depth sufficient to absorb vibrations resulting from the rail traffic, prohibiting the use of horns within the Depot.
Furthermore, it said that the RTA should verify that the metro maintenance and operation contractor is obliged with the decision banning the use of horns in the Depot.
