NEx and ExxonMobil to advance development of nonmetallic building materials

ExxonMobil Upstream Integrated Solutions Company and ExxonMobil Chemical Company – a division of ExxonMobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) have become Gold Supporting Members of NEx: An ACI Center of Excellence for Nonmetallic Building Materials. The American Concrete Institute (ACI) and ExxonMobil will now work together to drive NEx’s mission to collaborate globally on the use of nonmetallic building materials to drive research, education, awareness, and adoption.
NEx: An ACI Center of Excellence for Nonmetallic Building Materials, was established in 2021 by the ACI with Aramco as its founding member. The centre, which is based at the ACI World Headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA, aims to accelerate the use of nonmetallic materials and products in construction, and leverages ACI’s role as a global body and resource for the development, dissemination, and adoption of consensus-based standards for concrete design, construction, and materials.
Through “a generous donation” as Gold Supporting Member, ExxonMobil will have a hands-on role in carrying out the core functions of NEx including: standards and specifications; technical committee acceleration; professional development; plant audit/certification; research and development; advocacy and technical support, and more. Funding from sustaining and supporting Members for all NEx initiatives is critical to helping the centre achieve its mission, NEx pointed out.
In April 2022, ACCIONA said it had developed new geometric control software for manufacturing concrete segments.

In May, the GE Mena Decarbonisation Centre of Excellence (COE) opened its doors in Dammam, while in June, the Dubai Municipality launched several technical activities around 3D printing technology.
