BAC issues RFP for construction works at Cargo Express Village

Deadline for submitting bids is September 12

A request for proposal (RFP) for construction work relating to the Cargo Express Village at the Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has been issued by the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC). The scope of work includes the construction, testing and commissioning of Phase 1-A of Cargo Express Village, as per the Bahrain Tenders Board.

According to a statement, the key facilities being planned include a warehouses zone spread over a 12,500sqm, two power substations, a landside access road from Al Rayya highway, a car parking zone and security guard house at the entrance of the Cargo Express Village, in addition to water tanks and pumping station and an emergency gate.

Zone A will boast a 5,000sqm warehouse facility exclusively for logistics group FedEx in addition to other storage facilities spread over 7,500sqm area. On the airside of the Cargo Express Village, BAC said the scope of work includes airside security wall with associated works; emergency gate and airside roads and yard, the statement noted.

According to the Tender Board, bids will be open to only Grade A and Grade AA-rated building contractors registered with the kingdom’s Ministry of Works. The deadline for submitting the bids has been set at September 12.
