SSH appoints new group commercial director

Mark O’Brien holds a B.Sc. degree in Quantity Surveying from Robert Gordon’s University in Scotland and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

Mark O’Brien has been appointed as SSH’s new group commercial director.

The firm notes that O’Brien has over 30 years’ experience in commercial management, operational management, programme management and leadership, and has led teams in the UK, Europe, Asia and, for the last seven years, the Middle East.

According to a statement from SSH, O’Brien is a strategic thinker with an adaptive, collaborative style and has a proven track record of leading businesses, developing people-focused cultures, delivering strategic initiatives, and improving commercial awareness.

“We are extremely pleased that Mark is joining our leadership team, bringing with him a wealth of regional experience together with subject-matter expertise, thought leadership and, most important, the right attitude and character to fit the SSH delivery ethos,” said Matthew Squires, chief executive officer at SSH.

O’Brien is said to believe strongly in creating discipline and focus on key issues, introducing processes and control systems and, driving better delivery and financial outcomes for clients and the firm.
