Randon Implementos to set up Kenya assembly plant
Platform and tipper sets are shipped from Brazil in order to be assembled and commercialised by local partner
Brazilian trailer OEM Randon Implementos is set to build a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly unit in Kenya alongside, JAP Africa, a subsidiary of Portuguese conglomerate JAP.
A strategic agreement between the two commits both to the local assembly of semi-trailers, said Randon Implementos in a statement.
It added that the the platform and tipper sets are shipped from Brazil in order to be assembled and commercialized by our local partner. The expectation is for continuous growth in terms of market share in the next few years, reaching neighboring countries such as Tanzania and Uganda, said Sandro Trentin, general director of Randon Implementos.
“Our operation in Kenya is important to the company and is recognized by our customers. East Africa is expanding rapidly as a whole, and we seek to maintain a leading role in this region with consolidated strategic partnerships,” he added.
With a history spanning over 100 years, JAP Group first launched in Angola in 2010 and is now present in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
