Hidromek achieves 50,000-unit sales landmark

Turkish equipment manufacturer expects global market improvement in 2021 as it expands its footprint around the world and ramps up production

Turkish construction equipment manufacturer Hidromek has announced the achievement of a sales landmark, with the company delivering its 50,000th machine towards the end of 2020.

The global sales milestone encompasses deliveries to over 100 countries on six continents since the company started operations, said Ahmet Bozkurt, vice chairman and general manager, Hidromek.

“We extend our deepest thanks to our team, dealers, services, suppliers, customers and all of our stakeholders with whom we are stronger together,” said Bozkurt.

A statement from Hidromek added that it produces backhoe loaders, hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, motor graders and soil compactors in its six production facilities, including four factories in Ankara, Turkey, one factory in Izmir, Turkey, and one in Chonburi, Thailand, providing employment for 2,000 people.

Hidromek is also continuing construction of a new production facility located on an area of 1.4 million square metres in Ankara, Turkey. The first element of the facility to be completed is a components factory, which has already started operations and is producing main components such as gearboxes, axles, hydraulic reducers and hydraulic cylinders for Hidromek machines. An excavator factory is planned to become operational on the campus in 2022 and will create new employment and increase production capacity, said the company’s statement.

Hidromek added that it is continuing its research and development initiatives, based on which it plans to introduce new products this year for product groups such as crawler excavator, mini crawler backhoe loader, soil compactor and wheel loader.

Hidromek has recently added new markets such as the Czech Republic, Taiwan, Malta, Guam, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone to the list of countries it exports to, which already comprises Algeria, Bulgaria, Tunisia, South Africa, Argentina, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, Spain, France, Russia and Australia as its main export markets. The company also re-started exports to Mexico and Saudi Arabia last year, adding new members to its dealer network, the statement added.

“Being the first and only Turkish construction equipment manufacturer on the international ‘Yellow Table’ list, Hidromek was also on the ‘Yellow Table’ 2020 list again. Until today, Hidromek has won 20 internationally prestigious design awards,” said the company’s statement.

Stating that 2020 was a successful year despite the extraordinary situation experienced all over the world, Bozkurt said: “We have always supported our customers with our wide product range and after sales services. In our domestic market, we increased market share in many of our products. Despite the global situation, we had a successful year abroad as well. We think that 2021 will be a better year than 2020 with the continuation of public investments and the demands in the construction sector. In this context, while increasing our share in existing markets, we aim to open up to new markets, expand our dealership network and meet the demands of our customers by adding new products to our product range, thus strengthen our place in the global industry.”
