The time is right to recognise the fire and life safety people saving lives, says Tenable’s Alcock
Tenable Fire Engineering Consultancy’s Sam Alcock joins BPME Awards 2020 judging panel as new and fire and safety awards are added
The upcoming Big Project Middle East Awards is set to include two new awards recognising achievements in fire and life safety within the regional construction industry.
The awards for Fire Safety Project of the Year and Excellence in Fire and Life Safety Innovation will be presented to the winners at the annual event which is due to take place on 26th January 2021 at the Ritz Carlton JBR, Dubai.
Awards judge and Tenable Fire Engineering Consultancy’s Dubai director Sam Alcock stated that the ‘time was right to shed light’ on fire and life safety people saving lives.
“Over the years, we have submitted nominations for a number of awards. However, we identified a gap in the available award categories and saw the need for the work carried out within the Fire and Life Safety industry to be recognised and rewarded,” he said.
“Fire and life safety is a critical element of a building’s lifecycle, so it is important we shine a well-deserved light on the contractors, consultants, developers and architects who provide services that protect lives within the construction industry.”
Founded in Oman in 2010, Tenable Fire Engineering Consultancy provides a comprehensive range of high-quality, fire and life safety services, including code consulting, fire system design, performance-based fire design and third-party verification within the built environment.
Tenable FEC adapts the latest fire engineering techniques to ensure the architectural integrity of a project is never compromised. Using the latest code requirements, engineering expertise and fire modelling tools, they improve building safety performance, protect architectural design aspirations, optimise floor plans and reduce unnecessary construction costs.
Since joining the firm’s Dubai office from his previous role in Oman, Sam Alcock has helped Tenable establish relationships with some of the country’s most prominent developers and consultants; providing services on several projects of national importance, including Sheikh Zayed Memorial, Etihad Museum and Zayed National Museum and the iconic One@Palm Jumeirah.
The firm, which is also a Silver Sponsor of the Awards, hopes the event can be a platform to help accelerate regional progress.
Alcock concluded: “We are proud to have partnered with Big Project ME to create two dedicated fire and life Safety award categories and look forward to recognising the winners and shortlisted entries during the final event.”
