New model offers 300kg of unrestricted platform capacity and higher reach than existing models in its range
Genie has launched a new telescopic boom lift, the s-80 J, which is a higher reaching version of the S-60 J, another model it introduced recently.
According to the Terex-owned powered access equipment manufacturer, both models are designed to provide the essential performance that operators need to get work done at height from a jibbed boom, with the new S-80 J offering an unrestricted platform capacity of 300kg, suitable for two occupants and their tools.
Its 1.8m jib is also a leading length and capacity for low-weight booms in this height category, said Genie. The model offers a working height of 26.4m and horizontal reach of 16.8m, providing operators with access at the top of the envelope, the manufacturer added.
The new Genie S-80 J boom weighs 10.4t and is equipped with Genie’s exclusive four-point TraX patented track and axle system, with the manufacturer claiming this to be the first and only boom model in the 24.4m category to offer a tracked option. The Genie TraX system helps in the model’s terrainability and offers lower contact pressure for reduced damage when operating on sensitive ground surfaces, such as wet grass, mud, sand and snow, as well as on harder, uneven gravel, rock, concrete or asphalt-based surfaces.
Sean Larin, Genie product manager, Terex AWP, said: “The introduction of this second model to the Genie essential performance boom line offers rental companies the opportunity to increase their rental return on invested capital (rROIC) by mixing their fleets with a variety of Genie booms, matching the right boom to the right application.”
He added that, within a rental fleet, the Genie S-80 J model complements the heavy-lifting Genie S-85 XC (Xtra Capacity) model, which is suited for heavy trades work. For example, Genie S-80 J man lifts are ideal for completing work-at-height jobs such as general construction, maintenance, inspections and painting.
“The new Genie S-80 J boom is equipped with everything operators need to get work done. This new boom features 4WD and active oscillating axles, which provide operators with true rough terrain performance, including no axle lockout during elevated drive, on unfinished jobsites and rough-terrain surfaces,” Larin said.
Equipped with a 49hp Kubota D1803 turbo diesel engine, the Genie S-80 J boom is designed to meet rental companies’ needs for equipment with a low total cost of ownership. The single-envelope mast design on the Genie S-80 J telescopic boom speeds up inspections, maintenance and repairs with fewer overall inspection points and wearable components, reducing costly downtime, the manufacturer said.
