AECOM has won a project management consultancy (PMC) services contract for Phase One of Neom Bay. The 45sqkm project is being developed within the 26,000sqkm Neom Zone in the north-west region of Saudi Arabia.
As per the terms of the multi-year contract, AECOM will provide a full suite of services to support the delivery of Phase One. The consultancy’s scope includes project management, contract administration, technical and environmental support services and site supervision over the design and construction phases of the project.
“We are delighted that Neom has chosen AECOM to drive the delivery of this significant project. The award is testament to our integrated offer, global reach and local knowledge, as well as strong leadership commitment globally to pursue large programs of work in Saudi Arabia,” said Ian Laski, president and CEO of AECOM Arabia.
Neom Bay Phase One is intended to be the first showcase of the Neom vision to the world. Once complete, Neom Bay Phase One will feature several thousand residential units, leisure, retail, commercial, public and entertainment facilities with supporting infrastructure and utilities, a statement from AECOM said.
“For the past 50 years we have demonstrated our leading project management expertise in Saudi Arabia and we continue to grow this part of our business. We have already begun to mobilise local and global resources to bring the best of AECOM’s project management capability to this transformational project. We look forward to building a long-term relationship with PIF that delivers ambitious projects across Saudi Arabia and enables the achievement of Vision 2030,” remarked Hamed Zaghw, chief executive, AECOM, Middle East & Africa.
Neom is being developed as a special economic zone and diverse society, which aims to offer world-class education, healthcare and culture, and is being purpose built for a new way of living. According to the statement, all aspects of Neom’s planning and delivery will embrace innovation and technology to ensure that ‘the land of the future’ is a place where the greatest minds and best talents are empowered to embody pioneering ideas and exceed boundaries.
