Construction begins on European Maternity Hospital project in Khalifa City

Project management firm Swiss PMC’s CEO Peter Obrist says hospital will make valuable contribution to UAE Vision 2021

Construction of the state-of-the-art European Maternity Hospital in Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa City has officially launched following a ground-breaking ceremony held at the site this week.

The European Maternity Hospital has been described as the first facility of its kind in its area and will provide healthcare services for families, women and infants.

According to European Hospital LLC will be one of the leading maternity and paediatric facilities in the UAE. The hospital will be completed and opened in 2021 and will house multiple operating rooms, delivery rooms, ultra sound stations, mammogram scanners, CT scanner and a MRI machine. The hospital has a capacity of 120 beds, plus ICU, postnatal and antenatal beds.

“The European Maternity Hospital will assist many families for generations to come. We purposely searched to have the hospital in Khalifa City in order to maximise the number of families that would benefit from our specialised services. There are over 30,000 families living in the vicinity, and currently there is no specialized hospital in the area that focuses purely on the needs of women and young children,2 said Mohamed B. Hamad, CEO, European Hospital LLC. “The UAE houses some of the best medical facilities on an international level and we aim to build upon those standards by offering families our expertise in maternity care. The European Maternity Hospital is a hospital for the community and a hospital for the future.”

Developed in alignment with the UAE’s leadership directive for the supply of premium healthcare facilities, Peter Obrist, CEO of Project Management firm Swiss PMC said the hospital will make a significant contribution to the ‘UAE Vision 2021’

“As providers of healthcare we consider it our duty to produce a premium facility and to provide for the community while increasing the quality of life standards of the people cared for. We see the European Maternity Hospital as an added value component to the UAE Vision 2021 while providing world class healthcare,” he said. “We are eager to open our doors to the community and show this outstanding hospital to the UAE population and the world.”
