Mammoet expands fleet with mini crawler cranes
Global heavy-lifting specialist goes small with 4t Hoeflon C10 models for rental and maintenance
International heavy lifting and transport specialist Mammoet, known for its massive lifting projects and cranes, has now added new 4t capacity mini crawler cranes to expand the small end of fleet.
The new cranes are Dutch-built Hoeflon C10 mini crawlers, which are telescopic models measuring just 800mm in width to fit through narrow gaps and doorways, making them a suitable design to operate in confined spaces. According to Mammoet, the applications the new cranes are targeted at include work in refineries and industrial plants where there are space constraints to fit in conventional cranes. To aid manoeuvrability further, the machine’s track width can be adjusted for optimum stability, according to the available space.
The Hoeflon C10 mini crawler has a maximum reach of 19m, at which it can lift 209kg. It’s maximum hoisting height with all extensions is 22m. Weighing in at 4.7t, it can be fitted with a radio remote control. There is a dual power option, with an electric motor and a three-cylinder Yanmar diesel as available power sources.
According to Mammoet, the new mini crawlers will run alongside its existing trailer and loader crane fleet for its industrial services customers.
Gert Jan Uildriks, branch operations manager at Mammoet Assen, said the company has significant operations in rental business and maintenance work, even though it is best known for its big projects. “The addition of the Hoeflon C10 means that we now have the necessary and complete range of equipment to expand into new and growing markets, such as machine relocations,” Uildriks said.
