Muscat Airport contractors warned about delays
Minister of Transport and Communications says contractors should mitigate possible delays
Oman’s Transport and Communications Minister has said despite ‘good progress’ in construction work at the new Muscat International Airport, contractors should mitigate any possible delays.
Dr Ahmed al Futaisi said that although delays are expected at the initial stage, more focus should be made on progress.
“During the first visit the foundations to the terminal building were not even laid. Now we are seeing the slabs and columns of the second floor in some sections, which is good progress. However, we are stressing again that contractors can do much more,” the minister told Muscat Daily, an English news daily.
He added that only two packages, the cargo and catering buildings, have yet to be tendered, but they are both expected to be awarded before the end of this year.
