Description: Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to build an alumina refinery with capacity of at least 1.5 million tonnes a year (t/y).

Remarks: This project will be build next to the Emirates Aluminium (Emal) Smelter at Taweelah in Abu Dhabi and will be the first upstream aluminium plant of its type to be built in the UAE. Client has received bids from international engineering consultancies to conduct a feasibility study on this scheme. Engineering consultancies that have bid on the scheme include: US’ Bechtel, Flour Corporation; Canada’s Hatch, SNC Lavalin; France’s Technip and Australia’s WorleyParsons. Project is still in early stage, exact scope of the work has not yet been formulated.
