New launches, exhibitors and innovations were some of the highlights of this year’s PMV Live and Middle East Concrete (MEC) exhibitions held concurrently with The Big 5 at the Dubai World Trade Centre halls from November 21 to 24.

Liebherr Concrete Technology, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction machinery, was at MEC and PMV Live 2016 in place of their distributor for the first time, in order to talk directly to their customers in the Middle East.

Samir Hussain, sales manager, Liebherr Middle East, said: “When the concrete industry has exhausted the same means for years, it is time to focus more on innovation. The Liebherr product development team is doing an exceptional job in growing the product range, catering to changing customer and market changing demands, optimising energy efficiency, redefining value for money and getting the best return on investment while heightening performance levels.

“MEC and PMV Live 2016 has provided us with a platform to meet with our target audience from across the GCC, as well as the wider Middle East. We have met many customers from the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, and KSA, with some visiting the show from as far as Europe.”

According to Lachezar Kamburov, sales director of Podem Cranes from Bulgaria, the local market offers great opportunities for construction manufacturers. Podem Cranes, distributed by MET Cranes in the Gulf, is at PMV Live for the first time ever.

“The concrete market in the Middle East is much bigger than in Europe. Concrete and precast concrete factories in the region are extremely well developed. We are very satisfied with all the visitors we met. We launched new electrical components and electrical systems at the event and we also promoted our latest developments, like the tandem control, which is very important for concrete and precast factories,” Kamburov said.

Meanwhile, Dominique Carbiener, area manager at truck body maker F.X. Meiller, announced: “We are creating a partnership with a local company to assemble our Meiller-rear-tipper type C325 in Dubai.” The German manufacturer is looking to expand its operations in the region in response to a growing interest for high quality rear trippers.

Finnish Aquamec Ltd. showcased their newly launched Watermaster dredger Classic V, which has 50% more suction dredging capacity compared to the Classic IV-model. The amphibious multipurpose Watermaster dredgers are used worldwide in flood prevention, deepening shallow waterways, cleaning urban canals, building infrastructure in water environment and industrial-pond maintenance work.

At the PMV Live outdoor area, Italian crushing equipment specialist, MV Crusher, was a repeat participant in its seventh year at the event, said Najmeddine Sahraoui, area manager for the Middle East.

“There is a lot of interest in our products and we are in touch with many strong end-user clients and dealers. We have the new MB LS220 screening bucket and our drum cutters here, which have seen good responses from visitors,” he said.

The lull in the petroleum industry has also made many equipment suppliers, such as first-time exhibitor Inter Equipment, to turn to the construciton sector, said Shafqat Ali, VP, sales. “It has been worthwhile to participate in this event and we have a few had good leads to show for it. With Expo 2020 and other projects coming up, we hope to be able to build from here.”

The four-day event also enabled thousands of visitors to benefit from the 50 free professional development certified seminars, highlighting the market’s currents trends, opportunities and best practices.
