External structure and roof complete on $300m project

Majid Al Futtaim Properties continues to expand its portfolio with its first mall development in Lebanon.

The roof and external structure of Beirut City Centre are already complete and opening is scheduled for early 2013.

The US$300 million mall will provide over 3700 jobs during construction and operation; and space for more than 200 permanent retail chains over 60,000sqm, in addition to an open-air, rooftop dining area and a further 30 F&B outlets.

“Beirut City Centre will foster growth within the local economy and specifically the retail sector, offering a compelling new shopping, leisure and social experience for residents in the surrounding community,” said Waddah El Solh, Levant country head for Majid Al Futtaim Properties.

“Beirut City Centre, when open in early 2013, will deliver a world-class standard mall that will redefine the shopping and leisure experience in Lebanon,” he added.

Majid Al Futtaim describe the design as “contemporary” with environmental sustainability incorprated to achieve a LEED silver rating.

Construction on Beirut City Centre commenced September 2009, and is the first retail development in Lebanon by Majid Al Futtaim Properties, which also develops hotels and mixed-use community projects in the MENA region. ?
