Dubai: Pile foundations complete at The Tower
Several dedicated teams onsite to accelerate development work for Dubai Creek Harbour project
Emaar Properties, the Dubai-based real estate developer, has announced that pile foundations for The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour have been completed.
Developed as a joint venture between Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding, The Tower is situated at the heart of Dubai Creek Harbour, a 6 square kilometre mixed-use development. Expected to be the tallest structure in Dubai, The Tower will house several observation decks that will offer 360 degree views of the city and beyond, the developer said.
Over the coming days and weeks, the first structural facets of The Tower will be visible, with several dedicated teams already onsite to accelerate the development work of the project.
The foundation work for the project has set a world-record, Emaar says, with the pile being tested to a load of more than 36,000 tonnes – the maximum carried by a single foundation pile to date. More than 145 barrette piles have been used to form the foundation for the tower, which has been designed by Santiago Calatrava Valls, the Spanish-Swiss architect.
In its statement, Emaar added that The Tower would “leverage the latest advances in construction and engineering for its on-schedule completion”.
Once completed, The Tower will feature areas such as The Pinnacle Room and VIP Observation Garden Decks, which will be based on the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Dubai Creek Harbour sits by the Dubai Creek, overlooks the Downtown Dubai skyline and is near the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, a biologically diverse wetland reserve and home to over 67 species of water birds, protected under the UNESCO Ramsar Convention.
The Tower is also linked to a retail district, which will be one of the largest in the world.
The Tower adds incredible economic value to Dubai Creek Harbour where Emaar has unveiled exceptional residential projects including Creek Gate, Harbour Gate, The Cove, Dubai Creek Residences, Creekside 18, Harbour Views and Creek Horizon homes. All have gained strong investor interest from the region and international markets.
