Rides start arriving at $2.9bn Dubai Parks and Resorts project
Mack Rides, Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, and Dynamic Attractions are some of the companies building rides for the upcoming theme parks
Dubai Parks and Resorts has started receiving components for the rides and attractions for the three theme parks in the AED10.5 billion ($2.9 billion) project, according to a statement.
Global ride manufacturers have been busy over the past year developing roller coaster tracks, immersion tunnels, drop towers and other attractions, many of which are starting to arrive in Dubai.
“Following a rigorous bidding process, we have appointed a stellar team of the world’s leading players in the entertainment rides industry,” said Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Dubai Parks and Resorts.
“We look forward to offering our visitors an exciting variety of more than 100 unforgettable attractions and experiences.”
Mack Rides, Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, Dynamic Attractions, and Zierer Rides are among the names building the attractions for the upcoming development in Jebel Ali, which will open doors to visitors in October 2016.
Fabrication of rides is currently underway globally and after the ride components have been shipped to Dubai and assembled onsite, they will undergo a stringent series of tests, in line with international industry standards.
The overall construction management for the attractions at the parks is being led by Hill International.
Last week, it was announced that Dubai Parks and Resorts had partnered with Canadian-American entertainment company Lionsgate to bring attractions themed around Hollywood blockbusters The Hunger Games and Step Up to its Motiongate Dubai theme park.
Apart from Motiongate, the Dubai Parks and Resorts development will also feature the Legoland Dubai and Bollywood Parks.
