CCC founder Said Khoury passes away
Construction magnate passed away on October 16, 2014 at the age of 91.
Said Khoury founded CCC in 1952 with Khalid Abdul Rahman and Hasib Sabagh.
Palestinian construction magnate and philanthropist Said Khoury, chairman and president of Consolidated Contractors Group of Companies (CCC), passed away on October 16 in Athens, aged 91.
Born in Palestine in 1923, Khoury went on to move to Lebanon, where he founded the successful CCC in 1952 with Khalid Abdul Rahman and Hasib Sabagh. The company later shifted base to Athens during the Lebanese Civil War.
CCC’s first major project was the civil engineering and foundation works on the BP Tap oil pipeline running from Iraq to Syria, for American firm Bechtel. The company’s projects in development include the Riyadh Metro and the Midfield Terminal Building at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri offered condolences to Khoury’s family on Friday calling him a “true asset” to the Arab economy, The Daily Star reported.
