Dubai-based cable manufacturer Ducab has signed a partnership with Abu Dhabi Airports to deliver services and infrastructure for the Midfield Terminal Building (MTB) project, the company announced.

The firm will supply locally manufactured enhanced Fire Resistant Cables for the terminal. The cables provide 120 minutes of fire resistance and protection against water and mechanical shocks, Ducab said in a statement.

“Ducab is proud to be involved with this prestigious project which will become one of world’s premier airports once it is completed,” said Shailendra Pratap Singh, Country Manager UAE, Oman & Qatar for Ducab.

“The quality of cabling and accessories that we provide, coupled with the expert knowledge and huge experience in the industry…have made a massive contribution to the ongoing construction of this significant infrastructure project,” he added.

The MTB project, part of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s multibillion dollar expansion plan, is expected to be operational in July 2017. The new building will be 700,000 sq. m in area when complete, making it one of the largest airport terminals in the world.

The new terminal will also cater to more than 40 million passengers per year with a cargo capacity of 2.5 million tonnes annually.
