$272 million hospital and medical university to be built in Dubai Silicon Oasis
150,000sqm project scheduled to be completed by 2019

A hospital and medical university project will be developed by Saudi Arabia’s Dr Soliman Fakeeh Hospital (DSFH) in Dubai.
Vice-chairman and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni and the president and chairman of DSFH signed an agreement at the DSOA headquarters for the project, which is scheduled to reach full completion by 2019.
Estimated to be built at a cost of $272.2 million across 150,000sqm, the project titled ‘The University Hospital’, will be constructed in two phases. The hospital is expected to be completed by mid-2017, followed by the medical college in 2019.
“Recent statistics shows that the number of medical tourists receiving treatment is estimated to increase by 15% each year,” said Dr. Zarooni. “Additionally, healthcare spending in the UAE is expected to reach $10.8 billion by 2015, while medical tourists are set to cross the 20 million mark for the same period.
“The initiative is also a step forward in the implementation of the strategy of the Executive office to make Dubai a hub for medical tourism,” he added.
While the ‘University Hospital’ is expected to be completed by 2017 and generate 4,000 new jobs for the industry, the medical university will be completed by mid-2019, said a press statement.
