New regional MD for Black and Veatch
Appointment to strengthen regional capability
Black and Veatch, the power generation and water sanitation company, has appointed a new regional managing director, Mazen A. Alami, to “further the development of critical human infrastructure” in the region.
The former CEO of Saudi Arabia’s Al Toukhi and General Electric and vice president of Saudi Electric Company will work with the firm’s clients in the region on energy and water issues.
“Understanding client needs and preferred delivery models is a critical component of our GCC business,” said Len Rodman, chairman, president and CEO for Black and Veatch.
“Having held senior roles with many of the region’s leading utility companies and suppliers, Mazen is excellently positioned to develop our working relationships even further,” Rodman added.
The near 100 year old company is currently working on the 2X660 MW heavy fuel oil thermal power plant in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia; 430 MW and 15 MIGD RO Salalah Independent Water and Power Project in Oman; and 2×150 ton-per-day sulfur recovery plant project, Sohar Refinery, Oman.
Current water projects include the US $120 million Wadi Dayqah Water Supply Scheme in Oman; and the Kuwait 8 B Sewerage scheme in Kuwait
“Earlier this year professionals from our Energy, Water and Construction and Procurement divisions relocated to a new operation in Dubai’s Internet City to create an even stronger local capability. The appointment of Mazen – who joins our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – further deepens Black and Veatch’s commitment to clients in the GCC states,” Rodman continued.
