L&T Construction secures contract for airport construction

The airport’s capacity will increase to 40 million passengers per annum once construction completes

L&T Construction has announced that they have secured a contract worth more than $980 million for the design and construction of a major airport on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.

Scope of work includes design and EPC of Passenger Terminal Building, a new runway, rehabilitation of a runway, taxiways and aprons, a new elevated eastern cross taxiway, landside roads, utility infrastructure and drainage and modifications for the existing terminal, L&T stated.

The company reported that, under the terms of the contract, they will be involved with baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, airport security systems, visual docking guidance systems, vertical horizontal transportation, airfield ground lighting, mechanical, electrical and plumbing works as well.

L&T was also recently awarded multiple contracts for the construction of hospitals, sub-stations and other projects in India and the UAE.
