Arabtec joint venture wins $153m Egyptian tower project
Mixed use development scheduled to finish construction by September 2012
The joint venture between Dubai’s Arabtec Construction and the Egypt based SIAC Industrial Construction and Engineering has won a contract worth $153m to build two towers in an affluent Cairo suburb.
Known as the SECON Nile Towers, the project comprises of two towers with 22 floors and a total built up area of 105,000m2. The first tower will consist of a hotel with a total of 256 rooms. The hotel will be managed by Hilton International.
The second tower will be used for residential purposes with a 114 hotel apartments.
The contract was awarded by Saudi Egyptian Construction Company (SECON), a joint stock company that was established in 1975 by the governments of Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
In a report by Zawya Dow Jones, sources connected to the project confirmed that the three year project would start in September 2012, with a scheduled completion date in September 2015.
The consultant for the project is Space Consultants, while Hill International is the project manager.
