Tekla to continue legal action against infringement
BIM provider recouped 10% of annual sales in 2011
BIM provider, Tekla Middle East, has stated intentions to continue prosecuting companies that use illegally obtained versions of its software.
Any company found to be copying, downloading, sharing, selling, or installing multiple copies onto personal or work computers, will face prosecution under Tekla Corporation’s global zero tolerance anti-piracy policy.
“Organisations using pirated software are starving the industry of the crucial support needed to complete projects, not to mention exposing everyone associated with a fraudulent company to legal proceedings,” commented Reza Mashayekhi, technical manager for Tekla Middle East.
Last year, the regional branch recouped 10% of its annual sales, by pursuing and legalising companies that infringed international copyright law.
In India the IT Compliance Association (ITCA) assisted in launching legal proceedings against VM Informatics for wide-scale software licensing fraud, following a raid in New Delhi.
A statement from Tekla read: “Tekla Middle East is aware of individuals and companies using pirated version of its software and is determined to prosecute the guilty party or make them legal.”
In November 2011 it was announced that Tekla had been acquired by Trimble Navigation.
