The Dutch consultancy firm Arcadis has announced a new leadership structure after acquiring Hyder Consulting last October.

Wael Allan has been appointed Arcadis CEO for the Middle East region. Allan was previously Group Operating Officer and Chairman for the Middle East at Hyder Consulting. He replaces John Williams, who will become COO, and the two will jointly lead Arcadis’ 2,200-strong business in the region.

Alan Brookes, current Arcadis UK CEO, will lead the combined team in the UK, creating a 3,900-person business. The combined capabilities in the UK now range from business advisory to program, project and cost management, and engineering and environment services.

Graham Reid, Hyder’s UK Managing Director, will become Global Design Director for the firm, while Greg Steele has been appointed Regional CEO for Australia Pacific.

“The strategic rationale for bringing Hyder and Arcadis together was to further strengthen our design and consultancy position in key markets, provide a strong entry point into the Australian market and accelerate our ability to service clients in all markets,” said Neil McArthur, CEO of Arcadis.

“Alan, Graham, Greg and Wael are all vastly experienced business leaders who I am excited to be working with to help our clients.”

In line with the changes in management, Hyder’s current CEO, Ivor Catto, will step down by the end of this month. Arcadis acquired Hyder Consulting last October for a reported £296 million ($450 million).
