The Abu Dhabi-based developer Tasweek Real Estate Development and Marketing has announced a $55 million mixed-used project in the city of Agadir, Morocco.

The project, comprising healthcare, residential, retail and tourism facilities, is the developer’s second in the North African country after its $40 million Marrakech Healthcare City, a residential and healthcare complex.

Tasweek aims to encourage investment opportunities and boost bilateral ties between the UAE and Morocco, it said in a statement.

“The launch of the new $55m mixed-use development in Morocco reaffirms Tasweek’s commitment to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries,” said Masood Al Awar, chief executive of Tasweek Real Estate Marketing and Development.

“The project will offer further avenues for GCC investors in the African nation as an attractive, upcoming and lucrative investment destination.”

In an announcement last November, Tasweek said the 160-bed hospital in its Marrakech Healthcare City project is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of this year. Apart from the hospital, the 21,000 sqm development will also comprise a 40-room boutique hotel as well as an apartment village.
