Germany’s MAN, one of the best known and oldest commercial vehicle brands in the world, is celebrating 100 years of commercial vehicle manufacturing.

Franz von Redwitz, managing director of MAN Truck & Bus Middle East called the centennial a “historic occasion”.

“MAN has a longstanding presence in the [Middle East] region and along with our valued distributors we have earned a well-founded reputation as an innovative and reliable commercial vehicles manufacturer.

“As we look ahead to the future, we rededicate ourselves to maintaining this wonderful heritage by continuing to support our customers’ transportation requirements with leading industry products and services.”

While the company has roots stretching back to 1758 with the founding of the St Antony ironworks, on 21 June 1915 a new company was entered in the trade register of the city of Nuremberg, Germany, which was to be the basis for the present day MAN.

The company was established as a joint venture between Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG and Saurer, a Swiss producer of commercial vehicles.
