Lighting-tower specialist Tower Light has been rebranded Generac Mobile Products following the company’s acquisition in 2013 by the US-based Generac Power Systems.

Founded in 1996 to produce lighting towers as extensions to generators, the Italy-based Tower Light gradually expanded its range, and launched its first vertical type light tower in 2003.

The acquisition by Generac, a manufacturer of gas generators, allowed the company to develop and widen its range of products, currently over 50 models. Generac has recently launched its new redesigned diesel driven water pumps that are also manufactured in the same factory in Villanova d’Ardenghi (40km away from Milan) in a floor area over 10,000sqm

The company has a big footprint in the Middle East, and regional sales manager George Darrous said its most popular models are the VT8 and the Linktower 7m.

The VT8 has an 8m vertical-type galvanised telescopic mast with manual lift, with 4x1000W metal-halide lamps and an 8kVA generator (with 3kVA auxiliary power outlet), as well as emergency shutdown switch.

The Linktower 7m lighting tower has no engine or alternator inside. Its 4x400W metal halide lamps can be linked to the VT8 or any other external power source, and it is also available with 4x150W LED that make it linkable to another Linktower in a daisy chain formation to extend the light coverage. It’s equipped with a 7m vertical galvanised telescopic mast with manual lift.

Business is good in the Middle East, and the company anticipates more growth in 2015, said Darrous. “Our engineers’ main concern is to design a machine that can run longer with less component failures. Our unique vertical galvanised telescopic mast design makes our light towers safer to use, have a smaller footprint and resist rust in our high humidity and high temperature weather.”

“Moreover, our oversized generator runs the 4x1000W bulbs, keeping more power available, which reflects positively on the engine and alternator as well as the electric components.”
