LR 1300 used to lift 27m-wide tilt panel
Liebherr says the lift of the tilt panel was the widest ever completed
A Liebherr LR 1300 crawler crane has been used in the United States to lift a 27 metre (89 foot) wide tilt panel. According to the German manufacturer, this beats the old world record by six feet and two inches, (1.87 metres).
This new record was set in Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA, by Citadel Contractors Inc.
The 27 metre wide and more than nine metre tall panel had a weight of approximately 59 metric tonnes (130,000 pounds).
Among the main advantages of tilt-up construction for end-users are their rapidness and their cost-effectiveness. Techniques for tilt-up construction have been further developed in recent years.
Most of the work is done on ground level, thus making it a fast, safe and efficient technique. However, it requires careful planning and a high-performing crane to do the lifting.
