Ashghal, Qatar’s powerful public works authority says that its plans to overhaul the country’s transportation system will soon be ready.
A year after revealing its infrastructure construction programme, Ashghal says that it is close to finalising its Intelligent Transport System (ITS) master plan that will outlay how all modes of transportation will be integrated in the run up to the World Cup in 2022.
“We are in the final stages of completing the ITS master plan and once it is approved there will be a five-year strategic plan for implementation,” the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) president Nasser Ali al-Mawlawi told the Gulf Times. “The aim is to develop a fully-integrated multimodal transportation system in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016.”
“We are developing tailored solutions to meet the requirement of Qatar and learning from the experiences of others,” he said.
