64,944 firms comply with midday ban
99% of companies investigated by Ministry of Labour found to abide with outdoor summer work ban
The UAE Ministry of Labour has found that 99% of UAE firms are complying with the midday work ban.
More than 99% of 65,110 companies investigated have been found to be compliant with the mid-day work ban, the Ministry of Labour announced on Sunday.
Inspectors from the ministry conducted 20,672 site visits to check whether companies were complying with the ban of outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, Ministry of Labour undersecretary.
He said that 64,944 companies were found to be in line with the regulations.
”The high percentage of abidance which stood at 99.75 underscores the increasing level of awareness among employers at the local labour market of requirements of occupational health safety,” he noted.
He added that the Ministry had begun extensive awareness campaigns to educate workers about the mid-day break rules. In addition, he said the benefits to their health, wellbeing and performance were also explained to them.
