The Private Office of HH Sheikh Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Maktoum endorses the 2022 Digital Construction Summit
Organised by Big Project Middle East, the summit will shine a light on digital construction tools and strategies that will improve delivery and operations in the built environment
Big Project Middle East’s forthcoming Digital Construction Summit (DCS) has been officially endorsed by The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Maktoum.
The live event is scheduled to take place on 14 September at the Anantara Downtown hotel (formerly known as the Oberoi Dubai) in Business Bay, Dubai. Registration is mandatory but complementary for regional construction professionals.

Digital transformation in the construction sector can yield a number of benefits including increased productivity, increased safety and risk mitigation, higher quality buildings and developments, and improved collaboration. It can also be the game changer the built environment needs to reduce its substantial impact on the environment and become more sustainable.
According to research by the McKinsey Global Institute, digital transformation can result in productivity gains of 14% to 15% and cost reductions of four to six percent, when technology and operational changes are fully embraced by engineering and construction (E&C) companies.
The challenge for E&C companies going forward is to embrace digital transformation properly. In a report issued in 2019, McKinsey noted that outside of “individual major projects, few construction companies have fully digitsed their operations”. It also said that the built environment isn’t the only sector struggling however, pointing out that many companies across sectors have reported “digital transformation falling short of their expectations”. As per a McKinsey survey, just 16% of respondents said that their organisations’ digital transformations had delivered sustainable performance improvements.
The Digital Construction Summit will aim to shine a light on the challenges, as well as tools and strategies that E&C companies can embrace to get the most out of digital transformation and digitalisation. The summit, which opens for registration from 8am and concludes at 5pm, will feature a number of panel discussions and presentations including: Embracing Change: Why the built environment must increase digitalisation; 4D modeling and innovation in project management; What digitalisation means for asset management; Solving the challenges facing the water industry through the digital twin; Entering the Metaverse: What does it mean for the construction sector and more. Dubai Municipality will also be hosting an exclusive workshop focused on 3D concrete printing at the DCS. The workshop will feature a keynote titled: The Strategic Implementation of 3D Concrete Printing, which will be presented by Aisha AlMulla, Head of Research & Building Section at Dubai Municipality.
The session will also feature a case study from Kareem Farah, ECC Director, who will showcase how the firm delivered the largest 3D printed project in the world in partnership with Dubai Municipality. A panel discussion on 3D concrete printing will round up the workshop; it will be led by Prakash Senghani, CEO of Navatech Group and will discuss the challenges and opportunities that come with embracing the technology, and the potential it has for transforming the way buildings and structures are built and designed in the future.
