Shurooq reveals plans for adventure project in Khorfakkan
Project overlooking Luluyah Beach will help bolster Sharjah as an appealing tourist destination in the region
Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has revealed details of its upcoming adventure project in the Eastern area of Khorfakkan, overlooking Luluyah Beach.
In a statement, Shurooq said that the adventure project is being developed adjacent to Soueifa Mountain and will feature a host of adventure activities and sports, including a zipline, giant swing, dry-slide track and hiking and mountain bike tracks. There will also be varied amenities for visitors and tourists from the Eastern Region and across the UAE.
The project will also include an observation deck and restaurant on the mountain top, which will offer visitors views of the surrounding landscape and adventure track routes. In December 2021, Shurooq also launched the Khorfakkan Beach expansion project.
Shurooq’s acting CEO, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer said the project will be completed by Q4, 2023, adding that it aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to redefine the leisure and travel landscape of Khorfakkan and to bolster Sharjah’s position as an appealing tourist destination in the region.
Al Qaseer also highlighted that the project will enrich Shurooq’s portfolio of integrated projects and will offer a comprehensive solution to the ever-growing demand for tourism and leisure experiences in the East Coast.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the project’s location, overlooking Luluyah Beach, will bring together the entertainment, sports, leisure, and adventure sectors at one destination.
In January 2022, Shurooq announced a deal with Marriott International for new hospitality projects on the east coast. The firm then noted that work on the $544mn Sharjah Sustainable City and $23mn Al Hira Beach Project are on track.
