Kalmar delivers 1000th Shanghai-built reachstacker
Middle East next sales target
Kalmar, part of the Finnish port equipment manufacturer Cargotec Oy, has delivered the 1,000th reachstacker manufactured at the company’s Shanghai factory, to Wing Wah, and container depot company in Hong Kong.
The 1,000th machine from this factory signifies a milestone in Kalmar’s business development in China, said the company, which will now look to increase deliveries to the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
“We are very proud to deliver the 1,000th reachstacker manufactured in Shanghai and particularly as it is to Wing Wah, who again have demonstrated their confidence in our products and services. The Kalmar reachstacker offers high performance at a low total cost of ownership,” said Clement Ng, Kalmar’s vice president, Greater China.
Kalmar’s product strategy is about building models with higher local component content, giving overall better flexibility and service to its customers, said Ng.
“As a result, Kalmar products are highly regarded within the industry as innovative, high quality, reliable and cost effective. Kalmar’s Shanghai factory has become a leader for reachstackers in the Asia-Pacific region and we are also now focusing on deliveries to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. With this sustained growth we are looking forward to the future and the next 1,000 machines,” he said.
Kalmar pioneered the world’s first commercial reachstacker in the 1980s and it is the market leader in reachstacker solutions with 8,000 machines delivered worldwide.
