Haliburton says first chemical manufacturing plant in KSA nearing completion

$100 million plant will manufacture specialised chemicals locally

Haliburton, one of the world’s largest oil field service companies, has said that its first plant in the Middle East region, at King Salman Energy City (SPARK) in Jubail, is nearing completion, with production likely to begin in the first quarter of 2022.

According to sources cited by Arab News, the first reactor plant for the manufacture of chemicals is being built in Saudi Arabia at an investment of more than $100 million. The plant will manufacture specialised chemicals locally and has the capacity to manufacture broad slabs of chemicals for engineering processing programs for stimulation, production, transportation, storage and exploration, it added.

The announcement came as three senior executives held a workshop in the Eastern Province to introduce Saudi investors to the factory’s activities, investment opportunities, and partnerships available to them.

They added that the company is targeting a 70% localisation rate when it comes to hiring and staffing the project.
