Coronavirus: Intertek Protek launches surface hygiene testing system for UAE businesses
Intertek experts to be sent to customer sites to enable offices and facilities to open safely
Intertek has launched surface hygiene testing service for facilities and workplaces in the UAE that will examine hard surfaces for traces of the COVID-19 virus.
The initiative will see testing conducted by experts at customer sites by taking swabs of surface areas or through customers pre-ordering these and following instructions to collect the samples.
Falling under the world’s first end-to-end health, safety and wellbeing assurance programme, Intertek Protek, the firm said the service enables companies to monitor the effectiveness of their hygiene protocols and “enable management action such as isolating areas to allow further cleaning”.
“As employers and businesses across the country prepare to safely reopen their facilities, stringent hygiene standards will become mission critical. Environmental hygiene monitoring of key areas can provide a proactive approach to reducing the risk of spreading the virus and provide peace of mind to employees and customers,” said Intertek at the launch.
Collected samples will be examined by Intertek laboratories in the UAE, with rapid turnaround time promised for testing via PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) methodology. This will enable customers to know if evidence of Covid-19 on their surfaces so they can act accordingly, added the firm.
