Dubai Ruler approves $187mn in projects
Municipality to develop a 15 new ‘iconic projects’ in the emirate
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a number of new projects in Dubai, it was announced on Monday.
The launch of these projects comes as Dubai begins a comprehensive development drive, which will see work start on a number of infrastructure and development projects in the emirate, a report in Emirates 24/7 has said.
In this regard, Dubai Municipality has announced 15 new ‘iconic projects’ worth more than $187mn. These are already underway as part of the municipality’s 2013 to 2015 strategic plan.
They will be designed to add to the ‘landscaping beauty of the emirate’, the municipality said.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, the director general of Dubai Municipality, said that the 2013 budget for the municipality will be approximately $816.7mn. He added that this would allow the municipality to fully implement and develop new projects.
Lootah said that the budget for the year would supplement by other sources of revenue and other investment projects.
