Passavant – Roediger, the wholly owned German subsidiary of Drake and Scull International, announced on Wednesday that it had signed a $46mn deal for the expansion of the Thu Duc Water Treatment Plant in Vietnam.
The deal is the first project for Passavant-Roediger and it will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of a 300,000m3/day Water Treatment Plant. The plant will treat river water to provide high purity drinking water to the region’s inhabitants.
Passavant-Roediger’s patented Turbo-LME Technology will be used during the project, said Dr Mazen Bachir, managing director of the firm. He added that this project would be the third phase of the water delivery program at Thu Duc.
“This key project demonstrates the reputation of Passavant-Roediger as the leading global EPC specialist of turnkey water, wastewater and industrial process water treatment plants. Our global experience and patented technology have again played a very important role in winning this project,” he said.
In addition to expanding the total capacity of the water treatment facility, the German firm will also be responsible for the construction of the river water intake pumping station and pressure mains pipes that deliver feed water to the plant.
“Leveraging our core expertise in high-rate water purification technology using our patented Turbo-LME process, we are therefore looking forward to ensure the optimal performance of the water treatment facility and to satisfy the specific requirements of this high-stakes project,” said Dr Bachir.
“Moreover, being our first venture in Vietnam, we strongly believe that this project will give Passavant-Roediger a significant head start as we move forward with our growth plans in the country.”
The firm has grown its backlog from $40.8mn (as reported in September 2011) to $163.3mn in September 2012, which represented a 300% year to year growth.
DSI acquired Passavant – Roediger in 2009 to enhance its capabilities in the region’s water and wastewater section. The company delivers comprehensive in-house solutions for the design, supply, build, operations and maintenance, wastewater and water treatment facilities.
