DSI signs $86mn MEP contracts

Contracts are for projects in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi

Drake and Scull International, the regional provider for design, engineering and construction, has signed three new MEP contracts worth $86.7mn in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, it was announced on Tuesday.

The contracts are for a commercial development facility in the Kingdom’s western province of Al Taif, an administrative governmental facility and hospitality development in Abu Dhabi, the company said in a statement.

“The new MEP projects add momentum to our business strategy across the GCC, particularly in KSA and Abu Dhabi which are among the priority markets in our regional growth plan,” said Khaldoun Tabari, CEO of DSI.

The Saudi contract, which is worth $22.5mn, covers 58 commercial buildings and will be completed in the third quarter of 2013. The administrative governmental project is valued at $31.3mn and will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2013, Tabari said.

The Abu Dhabi hospitality development is worth $32.2mn for the MEP in a 10 level commercial tower and business hotel. It is scheduled to be completed in Q4 of 2013.

Having developed its regional expertise, DSI currently has operations across the GCC, covering the residential, commercial, aviation, healthcare, education, utilities and transport sectors.

As a result, the company has begun expansion into Africa and Asia, where it aims to focus on the utilities sector. With this in mind, DSI aims to benefit from the patented engineering technology developed by its German subsidiary, Passavant Roediger in the Water and Waste Water fields.
