Futuristic Case wheeled loader concept wins Good Design Award
Methane powered Project TETRA machine shows the viability of using alternative fuels in construction machinery
Case Construction Equipment has received the prestigious Good Design Award for Project TETRA, its methane-powered wheeled loader concept, jointly developed by the Case engineering and CNH Industrial international design teams.
Unveiled officially at Bauma 2019, it is said to show the viability of using alternative fuels in construction equipment and the feasibility of using fuel generated from waste products and renewable sources.
The wheeled loader is powered by a methane engine said to deliver the same performance as its diesel equivalent. The engine has been produced by FPT Industrial, the CNH Group company that specialises in powertrains.
The Project TETRA wheeled loader is designed to offer an advanced operator environment that makes use of touchscreen and voice control technologies. The concept also offers safety features that use biometric technologies and an obstacle detection system derived from CNH Industrial’s autonomous vehicle research and development programme.
The Good Design programme recognises the best designed products across the globe for sustainability, superior design and unparalleled function.
