BPME Awards 2012: Volvo wins Brand of the Year

Volvo picks up the inaugural award for CMME’s Brand of the Year at the Big Project Awards 2012

Volvo Construction Equipment, the Swedish machinery manufacturer, was announced as the inaugural winner of the CMME Brand of the Year award, at the Big Project ME Awards 2012 on Tuesday night.

Held at the Burj Khalifa’s Armani Ballroom, the awards were a celebration of excellence in the regional construction industry. The Brand of the Year award provides recognition for the achievements of those manufacturers that have helped to bring the visions of architects and developers into reality.

“We always try to be a partner to our clients; we’re not really interested in just moving the metal. It’s really about supplying the right equipment to the right application and ensuring that the fleet operators are supported throughout the lifecycle of the equipment,” said Paul Floyd, managing director of Al Futtaim Auto and Machinery Company, told Big Project ME.

“That’s a philosophy that comes right through from the manufacturer, Volvo, through to the dealership. Hopefully, it’s the end user that gets the benefits of this philosophy.”

FAMCO are the official distributor and after sales service suppliers for Volvo Construction Equipment in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Floyd said that the company planned to build on their success in the UAE and conduct an ‘aggressive expansion’ throughout the GCC region.

“FAMCO’s plans, with Volvo in particular, are focused on the Saudi Arabian market. We acquired the dealership there 12 months ago and we’re currently in a rather aggressive expansion phase.”

“We plan to double our market share and take our branch network from the existing five branches to twelve branches, and we plan to do that over the next three years,” he explained.
