Multiple wins for Al Naboodah Construction Group at Expo 2020’s second Better Together Awards
Group recognsied for contributions across four categories from over 200 submissions
The organisers of Dubai’s Expo 2020 recognised the efforts of the Al Naboodah Construction Group (ANCG), the construction division of Al Naboodah Group Enterprises, at the recently held annual Better Together Awards by presenting the group with three awards in diverse categories.
The event, held at The Address Montgomerie hotel in Dubai, celebrated the successes of individuals and organisations involved in the delivery of Expo 2020, which included achieving exemplary health and safety performance, providing the workforce with good standards of accommodation and ensuring world-class employment practices. Winners were chosen in several categories our of more than 200 submissions.
The ceremony was attended by more than 300 people, including Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, and members of the Expo 2020 Dubai Sub-Committee on Worker Welfare.
ANCG was declared the winner in the Health & Safety Initiative of the Year Award for its ‘ZERO-STRIKE-360’ initiative to raise awareness on the dangers of working with, or in close proximity to, construction vehicles and/or heavy plant and equipment.
Trans Gulf Electromechanical, the MEP business of ANCG, was declared the Subcontractor of the Year and cited for using a “sustainable methodology with innovative ideas to ensure compliance and drive improvement in association with SHEQ and Welfare standards”.
The Worker Welfare Impact of the Year Award went to Manzoorudeen KK, facilities manager at ANCG, for demonstrating “unfailing dedication to the welfare of ANCG’s workforce in over 30 years of service”.
In addition, ANCG was also declared runner-up in the Environment Initiative of the Year category for its ”Bin Less, Recycle More” responsible consumption initiative that aims to “reduce overall waste and reach zero waste in some areas by streamlining data collection in order to better understand waste streams and thereby improve efficiency”.

According to the organisers, more than 160 million work hours have been completed to date on the Expo 2020 site, with 34,000 workers currently on-site. At the peak of construction, their numbers stood at 40,000.
