Haulotte reports 4% rise in global third quarter sales

Powered access major better placed than last year after first nine months, but cautious on future outlook

Global powered access heavyweight Haulotte Group has seen a 4% year-on-year rise in sales in the third quarter of 2019, with consolidated sales of €135.3m million in a market which the manufacturer says has accumulated indications of slowing down since its last financial release.

A statement from Haulotte also said that at the end of last month, sales amounted to €477.9m in the first nine months of the year, compared to €413.9m at the same point last year, an increase of 14%.

“In a European market that is now declining compared to last year, the Group’s sales are slowing but remain up 13% at the end of September, driven by the majority of countries,” said the Haulotte statement.

In Asia-Pacific, Haulotte’s activity remains dynamic, with the group reporting an 18% rise in sales year-to-date, still driven by sales in China and Australia. Latin America achieved a good third quarter, allowing the group to post 9% growth at the end of September, with Brazil continuing the momentum seen in the first half of the year.

The statement added that in North America, Haulotte posted a sales growth of 17% year-to-date, mainly due to scaffolding activity. Equipment sales increased by 14% and services activity grew by 5%, while the rental business expanded by 25%.

Commenting on the future outlook, Haulotte added that with “an increasingly uncertain global economic context pushing major market players to adopt a ‘wait-and-see’ attitude”, it is unlikely that Haulotte will meet its annual objectives for 2019, which is a 10% growth in sales and current operating income, excluding exchange gains and losses.
