Abu Dhabi’s Al Qana entertainment destination on track for Q4 2020 opening

Waterfront project will offer a range of F&B outlets, outdoor activities and family entertainment options

Work on Abu Dhabi’s new social dining and entertainment destination, Al Qana, is progressing well and is on track to be completed and open by the fourth quarter of 2020, it has been announced.

In a statement, the developer behind the project – Al Barakah International Investment – said that the team at Al Qana have hosted more than 50 F&B chains and outlets over the past month. These include 15 that are brand new to the UAE market, it added.

With 2.4km of waterfront, the Al Qana project will offer visitors a range of F&B outlets, both local and international; an outdoor skatepark and lush landscapes, a fitness and wellness hub, family and community social spaces, and a virtual reality zone.

It will also contain a marina, the largest stand-alone cinema in Abu Dhabi and the Middle East’s largest aquarium, the statement added.

As the project moves towards its targeted opening date, the developer said that Al Qana has signed over 52% of the leasable spaces to entertainment and anchor options. This allows the strategy to move towards concluding attractive and distinct concepts into the remaining spaces, it added.

The team behind the development has also been successful in getting international recognition as a destination, with interest coming from a range of overseas brands, it said.

“We are making strong progress to delivering the Al Qana project by the end of next year. One of the most important aspects is to provide a variety of spaces that cater to the community and those visiting the destination,” said Stuart Gissing, general manager of Al Qana.

“This means there are a range of options available for businesses looking to locate in Al Qana and be part of this exciting new addition to Abu Dhabi’s cultural, dining, entertainment and social scene,” he noted.

As a waterfront destination bringing in new concepts of social dining and entertainment to Abu Dhabi, the development is a highly anticipated touristic landmark in the capital. It features seven anchor destinations spanning over 2.4 km waterfront walkways.

“Al Qana plans to attract more than 150 must-see concepts across 11 blocks with a total GLA (gross leasable area) of 60,000 sqm. We are aiming to create a vibrant ecosystem for businesses, whether they are F&B providers, recreational outlets or wellness hubs,” said Fouad Mashal, CEO of Al Barakah International Investment, the company behind the construction of Al Qana.

“It is important that there is a complementary mix, catering to the many varied communities and visitors who will make Al Qana such an exciting lifestyle destination,” he added.
