KSA attracts Kyrgyz, Tajik labourers
Traditional labour providing countries have been pushing for better working conditions
Saudi Arabia is looking at Kyrgyzstan and Tajikstan to supplement its supply of labourers in the Kingdom.
The Saudi Labour Ministry has revealed plans to start recruiting workers from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as part of a strategy to open new channels and diversify sources from which workers could be recruited to work in the Kingdom.
“The negotiations with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are still going on while talks with Nepal and Cambodia are now in their final stages,” ministry sources told the local Arabic daily Al Eqtisadiya, adding that Riyadh is looking to raising the number of Vietnamese workers in Saudi Arabia.
Traditional labour-providing countries, including Indonesia and the Philippines have been pushing for better conditions for their citizens and threatened to bar them from seeking work in specific countries, including Saudi Arabia, which dismissed the preconditions as impractical.
The Kingdom, however, launched a local campaign to streamline the work of local recruiting agencies and ensure positive conditions for both employers and employees.
