DAMAC awards $163.3m construction contract to CSCEC

Main works are expected to begin in March

DAMAC Properties has awarded China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) a $163.3m construction contract for a tower in its Aykon City master development in Dubai.

As per the terms of the contract, CSCEC will be responsible for the main construction works of the tower. The as yet unnamed tower consists of two basements, a ground floor, ten podium levels, a lifestyle an entertainment level, 53 residential floors and a rooftop.

“This is a major contract towards the realisation of Aykon City, one of Damac Properties’ largest master developments in the heart of Dubai. CSCEC is one of the biggest contactors in the world and after careful consideration of various aspects, we agreed to the proposed partnership,” said Mohammed Tahaineh, senior vice-president (Commercial) at DAMAC Properties.

According to DAMAC, enabling works for the tower have already been completed. Main construction work on the tower is expected to use more than 11,000 tons of steel and 94,682 metric cubes of concrete.

“The towers at Aykon City will be yet another iconic addition to this great city’s dynamic skyline, and we are accelerating its development by choosing the right partner for the job,” added Tahaineh.
