Oman Cement H1 sales up 20.22%
New clinker line has provided much needed support to meet expected demand in country
Oman’s second-largest cement manufacturer, Oman Cement has said its sales jumped 20.22% to 1,135,612 metric tonnes (MT) in 2012, compared with 944,566 MT during the first half of last year, driven by solid domestic demand.
Clinker production also surged to 1.054 million MT during the first half of this year, up from 677,135 MT during the corresponding period of last year, the company said.
“The underlying fundamentals for the Omani cement market remain strong. This has been demonstrated by the positive growth in sales volumes in the first half of this year,” said chairman Abdulla Abbas Ahmed.
Oman Cement’s new clinker line has provided much needed support to meet the expected demand in the country, while the increased level of government spending along with the implementationof key projects are expected tolead to further improvement in demand for cement in the coming quarters, Ahmed added.
