The Marriott International and Khamas Group of Investment Companies have entered into an agreement that will see the launch of the Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott hotels in Dubai’s Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC).

Both hotels are scheduled to open in 2020 and are expected to boost Marriott’s presence in the mid-market hotel segment. WSW Architects have been appointed to lead the project, and WA International will manage the interior design.

“We are excited to work with the Khamas Group to open a new Courtyard and Residence Inn in the up and coming JVC Development which is strategically located and in close proximity to the site of the World Expo in 2020,” said Jerome Briet, vice president – Lodging Development, Middle East, Marriott International. “Not only does this agreement illustrate our commitment to growing Marriott International’s portfolio in the UAE, but it also reinforces the demand for mid-market hotel development in the market.”

The Courtyard by Marriott JVC will offer 150 rooms, while the Residence Inn by Marriott JVC will feature 100 rooms. The hotels will be interconnected and share food and beverage outlets, a health and leisure club with a swimming pool and meeting spaces.

Speaking about the signing, Bader Mohamed Yousuf Bukhamas, chairman of Khamas Group of Investment Companies, said, “We are happy to partner with the best operator, Marriott International and looking forward to the opening of the Hotel.”

The Marriott International presently operates 50 hotels in the UAE, and says that it is on track to grow its portfolio to over 80 hotels and 20,000 rooms in the next five years.
